Pigmentary Disorders
When a dark patch appears on the face or a spot loses its color, the cause is rarely obvious from the surface. Pigmentation changes may develop from sun exposure, inflammation, hormones, medication or conditions affecting pigment production, and treatment without a diagnosis may aggravate some patterns.
A medical assessment helps distinguish conditions that benefit from topical care, procedures, laser or monitoring. Sun protection and prevention of further inflammation are treated as active parts of the plan.
